UC Davis Art Department professors and students present hundreds of re-invented dish sets and unique ceramic pieces transformed from old dishes intercepted in route to landfill by Snowline Hospice Thrift Store volunteers. Legendary UC Davis ceramics building, TB-9, dating back to the days when Robert Arneson taught ceramics, served as project headquarters. Annabeth Rosen, an internationally respected ceramics artist and professor of ceramics at UC Davis, coordinated the work at TB-9 and invited other faculty and students to “come paint on dishes.” Lucy Puls, highly regarded sculptor and Chair of the Art Department, was instrumental in conceptualizing and planning the project. The result of their efforts and many others can be seen in this stunning display and sale of beautiful, whimsical, charming and, above all, unique dishes.
A collaborative multimedia installation comprised of light bulbs from a defunct poultry farm, over 100 salvaged lampshades, and a sound element based on shattering light bulbs.
