ABOUT THE ARTISTS:
Natalie Rishe’s video and site-specific installations could be described as studies in the geography of intimacy. Her work draws on ethereal qualities of light, passage of time, memory and monument to make tangible qualities that elude physical weight. She explores ambiguous boundaries separating private and shared space. Natalie holds an MFA degree from University of California, Davis and a BFA from the University of Nevada, Reno. She was awarded a one-year residency at the Headlands Center for the Arts and received the Robert Arneson Scholarship Award at UC Davis in 2006.
Tamara Scronce’s installations are poetic and beautifully crafted recherché objects which delicately mingle material, form, light and concept. They are contemplative---often referencing familiar forms, such as soap bars, bathtubs, cocoons, or faucets---replacing mundane functionality with a more ceremonial sensibility. Tamara holds an MFA degree from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. She is currently a faculty member at the University of Nevada, Reno and was recipient of the distinguished Nevada Arts Council Artist Fellowship Award and the College of Liberal Arts teaching excellence award.
